About 56......
56 is an intimate wine bar, small in area but big in personality. Situated on the corner of Leg Street, you will be greeted with a warm welcome, shown to your seats and you can then relax and start by enjoying one of the many wines, beers and spirits available.
Folk often say that the relaxed atmosphere at 56 is like ‘having a drink in your friends front room but with better service’. The bar seats 45 over two floors and the room upstairs is great for groups up to 16, perfect for private parties and events. If you fancy a more intimate meal then the Naughty Corner is perfect for two!
The kitchen here is tiny and the menu isn’t huge but the food that is whipped up in that little space is delicious! Sharing boards are 56’s speciality, think Grazing Board with an abundance of cheese, meat, pate, fruits, breads and lots of other nibbly bits or a Chicken Tikka Board that was so popular as a special that it had to hit the menu full time! There are also several other options, all worth exploring, you definitely won’t go home hungry!
We are now taking bookings for Christmas parties! Book one table, book two, book downstairs, upstairs or the whole place! We will ensure that your event is enjoyed by all!

A delicious spread consisting of a variety of cheeses, meats, crackers, pâté, bread, fruits, chutney and other nibbly bits!
Chicken Tikka Flatbread Board - £25
Naan bread smothered with mango chutney, lettuce and cucumber, covered in chicken tikka with onion bhajis and drizzled with riata
The Meaty Board – £22
A variety of meats, bread, pâté, fruits and chutney
The Cheesy Board - £22
A grand selection of cheeses, crackers, chutney and fruits
Baked Camembert - £15
Gooey baked camembert served with bread, crackers and fruits
Nachos - £12
Nachos generously layered with cheese and salsa served with sour cream and guacamole

No explanation needed except to say that they are good chips!
Bread and Oil - £6.50
Soft focaccia bread served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar

Downstairs we can seat 25 people and upstairs, we have seating for a further 20 people over three separate areas.
We have, The Party Room, The Naughty Corner and The Shelf!
Each area is unique but cosy.
The party room seats 16 comfortably, 20 if you fancy a squash and a squeeze and can be used free of charge for your get together or special occasion.
The furniture in here can also be changed so there are separate tables for smaller groups to enjoy.

Events at 56
We love a 'bit of a do' and our themed events over the Summer have been a lot of fun to do! We like to go all out and give you a taste of the country 'we're in'! We throw ourselves into the details and with a welcome drink, 3 course meal and live entertainment a great afternoon is always enjoyed by all!
Our next event is an American Night on September 27th, our kitchen is being 'highJACKed' by Jack and we have had a taster of what is on the menu and we can't wait for you to see what he cooks up! October sees us travelling to Mexico and will be our final country based event of the year. We are thrilled that both of these events were sold out by July but keep your eye on our socials and this space for the next event we have planned!

We are often told what people love about 56!
It's a mixture of things from our wines, our beers, the cosy, relaxed atmosphere and of course, our food. However, our games are often mentioned too!
We have playing cards, UNO, Shut The Box, Connect Four, Dominoes, the magnet game and more and we love to see people having fun with these.
Our latest addition though, has to be our favourite. We have a 1970's Honda acoustic guitar on the wall with an invitation to 'Take Me Down and Play Me' sign below! Those who can play a song all the way through get a drink on the house!
Other favourite bits of 56 are the artwork, the funky lighting, the playlists, the comfy stools and even the shelf to put your phone on whilst you use the bathroom!
